Yahoo, Dell and Merck avoided tax via the Netherlands

The Netherlands seems to be a favourite stepping stone in tax avoidance structure of large US-based multinationals. After Forest Laboratories, Google and Starbucks, it turns out that Yahoo, Dell and pharma-giant Merck & Co also used Dutch entities to shield their profits from tax. I argue that several aspects of Dutch tax policy, intended to attract multinationals, facilitate such harmful structures. Read the full Bloomberg article of 23 January 2013 here.
